Coco Rooster 皇椰鸡 sits quietly along Main Street in Flushing, offering a distinctive take on Chinese hot pot centered around a coconut chicken broth. Unlike many typical spicy or mala hot pots, this spot stands out by delivering a light, subtly sweet soup base made from fresh coconuts, which offers a gentle balance to the rich, tender chicken cooked within it. The dining experience here feels more intimate than bustling; the interior is thoughtfully decorated and clean, with a cozy ambiance that suits a small group gathering rather than a large crowd.

This restaurant is best suited for those looking to explore regional Chinese flavors beyond the usual takeout options. Groups of around four people seem ideal, as the hot pot style encourages sharing and sampling multiple side dishes like shrimp balls, braised pork feet, or select meats such as chicken leg and fatty beef. The menu also features a variety of casseroles and rice dishes, but the hot pot with the coconut broth consistently emerges as the focal point and conversation starter during a meal.

While Coco Rooster doesn’t require reservations, there can be a short wait on weekend evenings—nothing long enough to discourage a visit. The atmosphere is relaxed and practical, with a focus on attentive service that helps beginners time their cooking just right. This is particularly important as overcooking the delicate chicken breast can dull its naturally juicy texture. The place draws diners who appreciate a clean, polished environment combined with a health-conscious approach to Chinese comfort food. You’ll find the coconut broth especially refreshing, accompanied by fresh veggies and noodles that round out the meal.

Overall, Coco Rooster offers a steady, straightforward dining option in Flushing for those interesting in exploring a niche style of hot pot that balances flavor and lightness rather than heat. It suits anyone who enjoys a quieter meal with friends or family, particularly in afternoon or early evening hours, when the crowd is calmer and the kitchen’s timing feels more precise.

The coconut favor is not something you will be able to find usually. It is more like a hot pot that you can place lots of things in it after the chicken is cooked. I would say at least worth of trying it out Once. Highly recommend coming in a group of 4, so you all can try out more things. Nothing really really stands out in my opinion. Shrimp balls are good. Soup is good. Everything else is fine.

First time review. The inside is beautifully decorated and clean. Of course the star of the review is the rooster soup base hot pot. We order three different base soup(Coconut chicken, Pig stomach and chicken, and Healthy herbal chicken). Our favor was the most popular coconut chicken. It was flavorful and they time out the cook time perfectly so the chicken wasn’t overly cook. It came with noodles and veg on the side so we didn’t have to order much of anything else. We also order their coconut pudding but that wasn’t very good so that’s why it was only 4 stars instead of 5 but this is still a highly recommended place to visit. The staff was very accommodating to because we had a large party.

My first restaurant visit in Flushing. I went to eat around 4pm. I was very hungry, which could be slightly biased in terms of how I felt about food, but the foods are good! The coconut soup base is refreshing and sweet with two fresh coconut juice. The chicken is flavorful and juicy. Don't let it cook too long in the pot, especially the Chicken breast. When the timer is done (see timer in my photo), make sure to scoop all the meaty chicken chunks out. One thing to mention is all chicken pieces are with chopped bones in them. Be careful when you chew! The smooth beef chunks are also tender, just cook them until no pink. But not too long after that. Napa cabbage, all kinds of mushrooms, water crest, and rice wide noodle are definitely worth a try. They all absorbs the nice sweet coconut juice flavors. The dipping ginger+green onion sauce is very flavorful to go with chicken. Overall this is a hotpot without super salty soup base. For a person that has light taste and avoids salty restaurant food, this is great! I did use couple drips of soy sauce with a spoonful of soup base in my bowl to add little more saltiness to foods. After the hotpot, make sure to drink some coconut chicken soup. So yummy!

Healthy and fresh food, friendly and attentive service. No reservations accepted but the wait time wouldn't be too long even on Saturday evening. Highly recommend the coconut broth chicken for 2 (comes with veggies and noodles). I also liked the braised pork feet which melts in mouth. The highlight is their chicken for the hot pot, as it's very tender and with a hint of coconut after being cooked in the broth.

Coco Roster is a game-changer when it comes to coconut chicken hot pot. The broth is like a warm, comforting hug, with the coconut flavor shining through without overpowering the delicate chicken. The selection of vegetables provided a nice balance of textures and flavors. What truly sets Coco Roster apart is their attention to dietary preferences. They offer a variety of options for vegetarians and vegans, ensuring everyone can enjoy the delightful hot pot experience. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, making the entire meal a memorable one. Coco Roster has definitely earned my loyalty!

This new restaurant was highly recommended by a few numbers of friends and finally asked all my sisters to go together and tried it out. The coconut chicken hotpot combo was amazingly great, great value for the money. We ordered a 4ppl combo and came with a full chicken, plus a plate of mushroom, 2 types of veggies and a big plan or rice noodles for $69.99. Plus we ordered additional beef, tofu, bean curd skin, shrimp pastes, and half of “Hai Nan Chicken, and a few appetizers. All food were delicious and the services were excellent too. The fresh coconut juice (they gave 2 ) for the hotpot as soup base, and the soup was tasty and sweet. They use the high quality chicken and not the frozen ones. Great great place and we will go back soon! Forgot to mention, they made their own ginger & scallion as dipping sauce, and the fresh spicy pepper sauces and they were too good to be true!

Tasty! Love the soup very much! Very fresh coconut with high quality chicken. Have the soup first, and then eat the chicken with the source mixed with pepper and lemon, also could add meats and vegetables into the soup, make it a very delicious hotpot! Highly recommend this place!
